Few words from Ian:
"Standing on the shoulders of giants, that how it all started.
I wanted to race on the same piece of salt as Donald Campbell, Don Vesco, Burton Munroe and Rollie Free.
So I looked for a record to go for, and the 100cc streamliner record was set in 1956 by NSU and hadn't been beaten since, so that seemed like a good one.
I researched all recently build streamliners and used a draft board to draw a plan.
Then I bought some steel tubing and welded myself a prototype which I towed behind my car at cottesmore RAF runway at 70mph to check I could get it up onto 2 wheels.
Then I got Paul Lumley z renowned sidecar builder to copy my prototype and build a fully Tig welded chassis.
I then spent many months adding retracting stabilisers and working on turbocharged the 2 stroke engine.
Several trips to Sweden were required to learn the "black art" of turbocharged a 2 stroke.
The 100cc engine makes 28.5bhp normally aspirated and 45bhp with 8psi boost.
Bonneville in Utah were I race is at over 6000ft altitude so has 18% less oxygen than sea level, making engines struggle and getting carburettors a skill.
Last year, I decided to add a 3rd wheel to the bike and have a go at the streamliner sidecar records first, as only 13 streamliners have ever reached the timing mile and I wanted some return on my investment.
So 2025 is streamliner sidecar normally aspirated, 2026 streamliner sidecar turbo charged, and 2027 back to just 2 wheels.
The world 100cc record is 155mph, and the 1956 Bonneville record 138mph.
Time will tell if I set a record, but it's been an interesting journey."
